Congratulations for finally receiving your scanner!

I'm looking forward to see some test videos. :cylon:

What type of putty are you using. It looks more like a expanding foam more than putty.

It is Milliput. Our pal nashslash suggested it and it is great stuff. A water soluble putty that dries and can be sanded, painted/chromed over. That particular photo you noted looks

I was curious as to why the use of putty rather than bondo?

also, I have seen people drill holes into their helmet above the brow. I just cant see myself doing that to a shiny new helmet. its too noticeable. If its something to do to be screen accurate, I think that is one thing I would definatley avoid doing. Am I alone here?

ImageI won't be fracking up my cylon brow. Those are background or stunt.

That's what I use.

Putty... another builder suggested it, and I saw it worked awesome in his build and it is water soluble. Bondo is like super intense chemical stuff... Pass.

The "Salt and Pepper Holes" on a Cylon's brow (as they are called), are screen accurate to hero helmets and stunt helmets. They were a means for the actor to see better due to the LIMITED vision. If you are spending any effort to be screen accurate they are a must to add or you fall short of ACCURATE. And there is a certain number/pattern too. I've researched that in another thread, or maybe? even mine, I forget :)

The Vulpa helmet had the salt and pepper holes added to when used in an episode of Knight Rider. They are now WAY over done, but still, it is screen used (and accurate ;)) for BSG and Knight Rider now.

If you don't want to add them, that's your call. I'm still 1/2 and 1/2 on if I will. If someone can one day make my dream of a "smoked black" see through scanner insert then they won't be needed for vision as they were in 1978.

Interesting note in nuBGS's "Razor" where the "Classic" type of Cylon Centurion was re-imagined, they also included salt and pepper holes!!! They are there, look close in images online, or if you have the DVD. It makes sense for the CGI robotic Cylons to have them as cooling vents for electronics and such inside their head... not for an actor to see out of anymore, but a great homage to REAL CLASSIC Cylons.

Oh, and I do have an update on my build!

I bought some fabric to start an under suit and a pajamas pattern to use as a basis to mod off of. I don't have the vinyl yet, but figure I need to start to learn on the other first. It is a grayish fabric. Not the plumb I'd like, that's just too hard to find and I'm sick and tired of looking at the same dumb store for fabric they never have. MAYBE my next attempt at an under suit will be with a better color match fabric.

Not an epic, update and I need a photo yet (but it did happen :P). BUT HEY! PROGRESS
*You may now praise me, or be deleted* Just kidding.

Tiny update on Cylon-Knight... I've placed my order for a Skullbeast Cylon Pistol Holster.
Mine will be black leather with silver studs... because I am a fashion forward Cylon. ;)

I'll post pics and a review when I get the holster. Can't wait!
