Any screen-derived armor kits available?

Post by FLIGHTLDR SERPENTINE » Wed Aug 24, 2011 11:22 am

I think the armor seen offered here (Hand-Shaub... C.O.R.A) looks brilliant! I would really like to know if there are any armor sets (including these) out there that offer parts derived from screen armor, SPECIFICALLY the backpack/collar, gauntlets and 'belly' armor.

Any comments are appreciated. Thanks. :cylon: :cylongold: :cylon:

Well I know that most of Hand-Schaub is mostly his own creation, with a few items cast off of casting of screen used. So generational pieces. He referred to my Cylon to make adjustments to his sculpted pieces. C.O.R.A. is a mix of screen used cast off, and hand sculpted pieces also. Both sellers offer up good suits, but neither one are true 1:1 cast off. Hand-Schaub was never meant to be a 1:1 replica of the Cylon, but his own version. At this time I know of no one that is selling 1:1 cast off of a 100% screen used Cylon. One guy did a few years ago, but the molds disappeared.

Is the cylon offered by kropserkel a cast off screen used or total fan made?
What about the one offered by a guy who runs wegottofindearth?

C.O.R.A. = WeGottaFindEarth, and Krop is a copy of a part or two from a screen used like the helmet, and the outside lower ankle pieces. The rest is fan made. Maybe the chest piece a poor generational copy of a screen used.

In an interesting aside - a kropserkel (circa 2003) is technically screen accruate - from the nuBSG 2003 miniseries.

I was going to mention that, I remember reading on his site they used one of his suits for the miniseries.

I was wondering about the costume used in the miniseries a long time.

Looks too perfect for being a Kropserkel costume.

Just take a look at the backback...

I heard a specific person by name had their screen used original Cylon used in the Mini Series, but Krop has their name all over the place as supplying reference material, and a Cylon for the Mini Series. The BSG auction sold a Krop Cylon, and I have seen it, and it clearly is a Krop Cylon. That Cylon stood in the office's of the production office for years till PropWorx hauled it off as they did with the rest of the props. Later on as the show was wrapping up the choice to CGI the Razor Cylon into the flash back section of Adama walking in the Galactica Museum just before the launch of the 2nd Cylon war. One thing for sure that is that the mannequin used was not buffed up, and the Cylon looks a bit smashed together. Rookie try to be a Cylon.....Ask J Clayman as he saw my Cylon yesterday, and was amazed how big, and tall he is.

Yes, it's my understanding that the stunt guys who generally played centurions were tall and thin... like 6'-2" + That sound about right?

Correct.

And they had slightly raised boot heels to make them even taller!

The shortest guy they would use as a Cylon had to be 6'4 or taller. I reach that 6'4 mark, and would be at the back of the line or second string Cylon. With the lifts in the boots, and the foam in the helmet standing up very straight head held high I would be 7ft tall at the tip of the Mohawk.
