So once you make the stone cast ...the clay sculpt is pretty much destroyed?

Re: Skullbeast - Imperious Leader - build
?I always thought it was kind of interesting how the Imperious Leader never really looked like what the "original" Cylons were supposed to look like, conceptually (the first one is from TOS, the second from a comic book based on the original):

It's like the Imperious Leader had a much taller head and the rank-and-file cylons had a much lower-profile head. Maybe it's simply the presence of the multiple brains that IL was supposed to have had, necessitating a different cranial structure. There are so many unanswered questions about the TOS Cylon backstory. I really wish some people were still around from the production of the show to fill us in on what was planned.

I may appear unoccupied to you, but at the molecular level, I'm really quite busy.

I can say the Glen was never happy with the finished look of the Leader, and I am sure if he was able to get a 2nd year out of Galactica we would have seen a bit more of a back story on the Cylon's.

Re: Skullbeast - Imperious Leader - build
I too had wondered about the different look of the Leader while comparing him to the original reptilian Cylons...
Perhaps the appearance of the Leader was their true form just before the Cylons began to add some extra cybernetic augmentations into/onto their bodies (most notably the eye scanners, see the Realm Press "Dark Genesis" comic story for details)...
In the prologue of the telemovie version of "Experiment in Terra", the first, freshly created Leader was also shown with two glowing eyes instead of a scanner, which could support this assumption (also note the odd head shape):

But in the real world, it's my guess the artists simply do not knew enough about the appearance of the original Cylons so they designed them slightly different...

I think you hit the nail on the Imperious Leader head.Red Eye wrote:But in the real world, it's my guess the artists simply do not knew enough about the appearance of the original Cylons so they designed them slightly different...
All the art is concept art... He could have looked like a green Ewok!
They are all "what ifs" and unrefined ideas... but they do rock.
I guess what was on TV is all we REALLY have to "go by."

Indeed...
I wish there'd be a special episode or something explaining what REALLY happenend to the reptilian Cylons... but I think it would never happen since we've got the reimagined series now and only a small number of fans cares about the originals series at all...

Skullbeast - Imperious Leader - build
Neat stuff but the old purple fellow is whom I liked as a child. The imperious leader with the robot eye is interesting, the throned silhouette is damn close to a final, Minus the guy in a suit aspect. The other just looks like a pitch more for feeling than design. It's almost like comparing vulpa6 to vulpa. Just other ideas.

Re: Skullbeast - Imperious Leader - build
Don't know if it helps, but has anyone here ever watched "Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack", the so-called "movie" version of "The Living Legend" (with a different ending and added footage from "Fire in Space")?
The film is worth watching for just one single scene showing a frontal shot of the Imperious Leader (most obviously stock footage from "Saga of a Star World", since he still has his pet lizard sitting on his left arm).

Nevertheless, it's nice to know some footage of the Leader survived for later use without getting lost on the cutting room floor.
I wonder what other scenes of him would be out there, somewhere beyond the heavens...
