We have had exactly one yard sale in the past, and lost money.
(Bought a cash box, signs, etc. and then sold only $2 of stuff.)
BUT - yesterday we tried again and had a MASSIVE Benefit Yard Sale at our house.
We had donations from family, friends and strangers... we had good, dear friends help us giving up their time and sleep! Staying the night at our house, working till midnight, then up at 4am again for a FULL day and night's WORK.
We had a GREAT turnout at our Benefit Yard Sale!!! And all the help we got to give back to our neighbors who lost EVERYTHING was amazing.
Below is a photo collage I have just put together
-Shocked by a Fire truck and Fire Fighters in my driveway at 2am
-The wasted house you can see right through... walls all gone
-And the money we raised and a card signed by everyone... $659.59!!!
(My poor little cash box didn't know what to do, used to just $2 sales

The sale was great. Many people would pay for $2 of stuff with a $5, $10 or even a $20 and not want the change (donation). One couple even left and returned to buy a few dollars worth of items and paid with a $50, no change. We had a Pastor show up and donate us two bags of sweets, pastries, etc. She bought several items (again over paid a bit). And even gave the kids doing a lemonade stand (25 cents a glass) a dollar, but didn't take any lemonade. She told them to give a few away to other shoppers and let them know it was from Jesus.
Community works! Happy to be in the Heartland.
