got a chroming company local to me. I am waiting to get a price from them.
can you paint the plastic before its chromed?

Congrats! Hope they can do it at a reasonable price.

Not sure about painting it prior to chroming... what specific part have you mind? Or are we talking about the whole helmet?

Paint/primer will be no trouble, just make sure there is no silicon in it.

Also, red body filler needs to be primed over. It looks like you have a lot of products on the helmet so it would be highly advisable to coat the entire helmet with a quality primer. This way your chrome paint will be uniform and not have dull or dark spots.

so to answer your question... yes, primer is okay!

Also take the sanding down to a 1000 grit paper if you want it shinny, but then he has been in battle maybe a 100 grit in a few areas for that real battle torn up look.
