With the canopy in two stages. One without the styrine strip and one with the styrene strip. Thoughts?

All around really cool! Love the lights especially in the engine area.
I'm not quiet sure what you mean by the canopy... is it that you are only half way done putting the 'blinds' on?

Yessir. That is exactly what I meant! I also wanted to add that the easy thing to do here is simply paint over the front. I used standard gray primer and will use the "Weather System" powder for, well, weathering. Simply scratch away the sides, and there you have it.

Looking good.
I like the light coming through the openings in the front grille too.

Here is one of the back with (finally) all the circuits connected. I thought the visual was "pretty". Using a total of 6 (10mm) Blue LEDs for thrust. 1 (5mm) Blue LED for canopy, 2 (3mm) orange for grill side lights (grille) and 1 a piece (3mm) green and red for grille middle.

Gday. This is great. I love the canopy it looks awsome. I have an OOT production clear canopy for those kits & 3 resin Cylons that look pretty crappy but with some work could look ok. Ive always thought of doing this with an SS kit & now Ive seen this am sure I will. keep up the good work.

I have permanently joined the two halves. A ground and a power wire protrude from the bottom out of the opening (as you would imagine) for placement of a stand at a later point. It is fun to place the thrusters near a wall and see the light aura that is generated.
In order to hide where the halves join, I am using what I call "Second Skin". The procedure is to take .20 or .30 sheet of stryene and cut it to a desired shape. Paint the sheet pieces, let dry, then apply a thin layer of adhesive over the back. Adhere to the model, sand, then detail. At this point I have only done one section in the back. I am happy with the result.
Hopefully, I can post more pics on Thursday of this week.

That's looking great. Good idea on the seam cover. I did something similar on mine to hide the seam and add a little detail to the edge.

I am taking the raider and basestar to an art camp in a couple of weeks. The raider will be the subject of detailing and weathering, as well as making and using lighted effects. I will keep you posted.
