you know, i could never understand how a shipping/ post office can lose a package... what, they load them on a hay truck and hit pot holes at 80mph somewhere between piont a and piont b

Hand-Schaub wrote:Mad as Frakin' Hell! UPS lost my last package which included ALL the helmets of my order and two backpacks and two chest pieces. I know a lot of you realize how much work a helmet is with trimming, sanding, bondo, sanding, priming, sanding, sealing, sanding... did I mention sanding? I think the chrome company only insured it for $250!

HOLY FRAK!?!?
Are they doing anything to track it? That is the BENEFIT of UPS over the USPS... tracking is built in. Holy wow man. That 1 million percent sucks. I know how much goes into a helmet and I'm STILL not done with mine.

Hummm.... UPS - BEWARE THE HEADLESS CYLONS! ***eeeek!***

Hand-Schaub, I found this on the web - thought you'd like it:

yeah this isn't cool at all, but it can turn out to benefit his pocket book. He has proof of cost on chroming, and how much he sold a kit for. The amount will be given to him as proof of value, so he might end up with some coin in his pocket after all is said and done, but then the down side. Re-making the missing pieces.

They can keep the money - I don't feel like remaking parts - especially when they are not for me.

Another upside though is that I think I will sculpt my 'accurate' size helmet. I think I'll make a straight up sculpture rather than trying to work off of screen parts which have degraded severely over the re-castings and altering. The ones I made were smaller than the real deal. I plan to cast them in a resin (sil-cast or the like). In the long run it would be a lot less finishing after the master is made. I just don't know if I have the time for this though...

You would THINK when someone, somewhere opens a box and WOW there are like 6 or 7 Cylon heads in here!??!?! They would say, wow, that's not mine.

We better keep our Cylon eyes on eBay and such *GASP* they may wind up on the Cylon Black Market!

Could be that simple or could be the package label was destroyed and all marking of who shipped it or where it was to be delivered to was lost. Also because of package sized was left on dock stop by chance to get the package out of the way and forgot to be collected before the driver left. Countless things could have happened.

I appreciate that. Yes - it really is more because I spent a lot of time with those helmets. But I dont want to bash UPS too much because I may need them again so I will send out good vibes to them to find my stuff.

Well - next week I will start sculpting a new helmet - a project I wanted to start anyways.

Those look awesome. How much for a finished chrome backpack/shoulder piece, and how much for a finished chrome helmet?

I'm finding that the backpack runs about $275 and the helmet I have no idea right now because I'm going to change the way I do it so I don't want to offer it up just yet.
