Some updates,
I have actually been doing a lot of research and work on this project. Nothing to "show" except that I have rope lights on the way and I made a good coneection with an electronics guy who is custom making the eyes for me.
This week I will be creating an insert for the eye portion. It will be cast but what I noticed on the pictures is appears that there is a 'shelf' of sorts to support the rope lights. This will be part of the eye insert and the whole unit will help support and seperate the electronics.
The mouth lights seem pretty easy actually but I would like to go the one step farther and have the lips voice activated. If that doesn't pan out then I'll just set up a mommentary switch to activate it.

GREAT updates, thank you!
Good to know the IL is slowly coming together now.

Rope light update...
got the purple ones in and twisted them around in the head. It looks very good. I dont want to post a picture yet because stupid me forgot to order the chasing controller! So now Lucifer is all brains turned on! But it also showed me that I need to do some serious repainting to block out all that light.
I'm going in the workshop right now to make a master for the eye insert. Once that is complete I will cast it in transluscent red resin. This will be shipped off to the electons guy to do all the sequencing for me.
I'll think about the mouth then and for now I think I would like to just hook it up to a mommentary switch so the 'pupeteer' can control it manually.
I got some ideas for display and functionality of the piece so when all is said and done I am confident that it will be AWESOME!
One problem though... it is getting VERY expensive! For a finished up and functioning unit I can see it being in the $400-$500 range! There are just so many parts in this one small head!

If it looks spot on to the original, I'd definitely pay that much for one.

Only thing I can guarantee is that it will NOT be spot on. But we must remember in this hobby we try to come as close as possible and that it takes money to make these things. For example:
PETG plastic - $50 a sheet
clay for sculpting form and plaster to cast it - $10
electricity for the vacu-form machine - $?
Rope lights - $25 a strand
Rope light cntroler - $12
LED eyes - $20
LED mouth $20
materials to make eye piece:
rubber to mold master - $15
clear casing resin/dye $15
resin sealer spray - $5
bondo to join seams on head - $25
paint (black, silver,maroon,tint (for mouth)) - $3-5 a can
stand materials plus fabric for presentation - $?
TIME and effort! - $ gotta get something out of it right?
my artistry - $ priceless of course!
I realize parts of these prices are used to make a single head but it still requires a good deal of money to produce just one.
Sorry to sound a bit defensive about it but I think it's a good idea for everybody to know where "merchants" get thier prices from.

thats still a very reasonable price if it's "close"
spot on might have been the wrong words to choose.
Re: Hand-Schaub's IL clear head sculpt and vacuform shell
Okay...so I repainted the head with a combo burgundy/silver. It has a shimmer in real life and in the correct light looks a bit greyed out. Spector aways seemed silvery to me.
the rope light is on a chase sequence but I actually think the 9 foot is too long.
The eyes are cast in transparent red resin but there are no lights installed - they are being worked on as we speak.
the mouth is tinted so with lights off it looks really dark but as you can see in the video the rope lights do show through. I have not installed any lights for the mouth yet.
