Biggest things I've learned is - don't use anything with silicone in it - the chrome plate can't stick. And prime, sand, sand and sand... has to be SMOOTH or the chrome will show the flaws. AH - and also you'll want to mount a "flair" of some type on the inside of each part... have to have something to clamp to / hold the part by so the "finished surfaces" can all get a full coat of chrome.
I'm not sure what the cost will be with GoldCylon's run (bulk does get you a better price) - however - get your checkbook ready, chrome is not a cheap item.
