I used tin snip cutting scissors, and then a quick dry non gloss black can of spray paint.

Thanks for the help GoldCylon. Any particular paints or brands you would suggest? And by the way what extra screen used cylon parts do you have if any if you care to say that is. I am curious.

GoldCylon... do you have a set of "ladder gloves" for a not-so-graceful decent to the core of your BaseStar?

Re-watch the episode Hand Of God. When the gold Cylon is going down the ladder you can see just how poor the vision must be from the helmet. He is reaching blindly for the rungs then finds them - all the while wearing much more useful gloves (that is a freaking TALL ladder!). When he gets to the bottom and the door opens to the computer bank room *poof* back to his standard issue gloves. The magic of TV  I made some captures of it:

Those were stunt gloves used only in that one episode.

For the gloves... what size (really) should a guy look for?

Buy this I mean... if you get "medium" size do they run small or large? If I got a Large would it just fall off my hand?

I don't have a ruler with me. How should a person size gloves? If you see some on eBay it seems to me to be a guess if they will fit.

A normal sized male would need the full sized adult gloves. A med size can fit if needed, but doesn't look right on the Cylon, but it your small get the med sized gloves.

I've found a pair of gloves (the correct coopers)... the sell says there is no size noted on them. But they are 13 3/4 inches from the finger tip to the end of the cuff.

Could anyone guess at that size, are they small, med, large?!

Sounds large to me.

I've received a new pair of screen-accurate Cooper Armadillo Thumb gloves today from fellow forum-member Guido. Thanks for the fast shipping, by the way!

I know I already had a pair of gloves which are already converted, but I wasn't happy with them anymore so I have to let them go (look for them in the for sale section if you're interested).

Just picked up a pair of Cooper Armadillo gloves, and wanted to see if I could get someone to mod & paint them for me. Of course I would compensate you for time/materials, but I just don't have the time or skill to do these on my own.

They are a little rough, but I think they will work fine for my costume. They are much better than the ones that KS uses in my opinion.

If you can help me out shoot me a PM and we can work out the details.

Thanks in advance!
