OK not the best of photos. The natural light washed out the lights, or the flash did the same thing, but here it is. This is my Baseship with lights.

Looks good - love that ship. Very nice.
However, I hope you flopped the image horizontally

Very nice work on the Basestar so far...
But the two Cylon costumes in the background almost upstaging it.
By the way: Are there any chances of seeing something more of the Command Centurion costume like additional pics or a short video showing the functional eye scanner? That would be great...

The eye scanner is out for repair, and should be back soon, and as for detailed photos of Goldie I guess I can do that. They will be older photos, not in his current state, because he isn't in full display mode.

BUT WE DIGRESS!!! Getting back to the discussion of base stars and raiders......
I am not sure there were lights coming off of the top as my photo suggests could happen. My question is? Does it go against tradition, or would it be a nice effect?
I agree that the lighting as seen in the base star pic provided by gold cylon looks very true to the classic series configuration screen shot I have seen. I did not notice it in the RAZOR minisode. That base star looked more ominously "darker", which I like a lot.
I guess I am asking for some lighting philosphy here.....thanks.

Nice! Thank you.
Can't wait to see some pics of him in his FULL RESTORED state!

Dude, are you questioning the Imperious Leader?

I am not sure what you mean? I think there were almost two conversations going on here. Let me clarify.....
Mine are merely questions at this point. Gold Cylon offered some amazing pics of the Basestar, (and had me salivating at the mouth over the costume....but I digress). I am looking for opinions on having lighting come off the top (as my kitchen photo suggests). The lighting Gold Cylon has look very consistent with the old series; and accurate. I am trying to "update" (?) by incorporating what 1.5 second shot of the old style basestar as seen in Razor. That version did not have the lighting configuration in the Raider landing areas as did the old one. They were there, but not in the same way. It did not look as if there were "windows", just landing lights.
I simply think a lighting "something" from the top would look nice, but if it is too "innacurate", I won't do it. I just figure for the 35.00 bucks I paid, it seems a waste not to spruce up the dark and evil machine. After all, the build is four disks, which can be put together rather quickly.
So I am not questioning anyone, I am just asking questions; which, so far, no one has commented on, so I take it the sky is the limit.....?!? Awaiting some feedback. Thanks.

I don't think that a Basestar has any screen used basis for lighting at the center - top or bottom - except MAYBE for a few windows, like the rest of the ship.
GoldCylon's Basestar photo obviously has a panel removed in the center area, you can see lighting system elements that hole isn't "right" for any screen used Basestar. The top image (IMG_0611.JPG) has a cap removed showing the guts... and the bottom image (IMG_0607.JPG) you can see the cap is loosely back in place.
Visit the Basestar gallery we have
by clicking here. There are many "making of" photos of the original studio Basestar, and some screen captures that show just a few window lights. There is no big "glowing circle" at the top or bottom as far as I can see - keeping to only 1978 Battlestar Galactica.

The original filming miniature from the collection of Gary Cannavo (battlebuck.com) might be also helpful to gather some additional information...

Gary keeps the photos he takes on purpose at a distance to keep things a secret. Photos like I have posted show more detail and information than he will post.
