Looking at a few interesting things…

Regarding the undersuit, I'm going to have my wife take a stab at it. I'm looking at ways to simplify the process, if that's even possible. I'm looking at pre-fabricated black cord. I was considering 6 mm black bungee cord, but I just don't like the texture. Then I found a 6 mm gloss black leather cord. I really like it and think I may go this route. But how exactly to attach it…? I think the originals were hand made rolls with "flaps" stitched to strips of lycra, or whatever the base suit material was. Rib by rib… ugh… perhaps a pre-made basic lycra suit (still top and bottom portions) and then the ribbing pinned and stitched in place on top of the suit? Hmm, something like that.

Also, for the seaming and cleanup of the armor parts, I'm going to use Duraglas. It's a milled fiberglass and polyester resin "paste" like bondo only stronger. Still sands well but won't crack or pop loose so easily.

This video made by our very own GoldCylon gives a good hint of how the ribbing sections should be made:

Good luck! :salute:

Thanks for the link!

I would like to see the backside of that sample better. Does the screen used suit have wire in the welting cord?

Yes it has.

Could show a photo of the inside of my replica suit if it's of any help to you...

I welcome all references. That would be great, thanks.

In the end we may just stitch cord ontop of the suit unless it just looks terrible. It will be a while before we're actually doing it though. My big push is to get my armor 100% ready for plating before the end of the year.

I'm really disappointed right now. I got a roll of "copper" mylar tape and it is just bright orange. I wanted to use it on a few key parts like the helmet, to give the authentic series look to my armor. I suppose I can just finish it off nicely and not worry about using tape, except for the gauntlets and arm bands. I really do need something for those! I'd hate to cave-in and just go "gold" on my armor. :ugh:

Well, from low to high… got a cool package from Australia today…

Really happy with these parts. They're nice and light. Terry even ground the texture smooth on the grill and blade. More cleanup is needed on these but I highly recommend both pieces. Thanks Terry!
