I signed up on photobucket but it is the same type of thing. I actually do have web storage however I do not want to crowd it with these images. Does anyone have a way around these things?
Upload them as attachments, or you could email them to me and I'll post them up to the BYC server/to the BYC Gallery if you want. Either way we can blow up Colonials!

Okay - I figured out the attachment thing - I always forget to size them down.

So - I still have a few parts to collect but I think I figured out the under nose bracket/hook and the plug thing is probably an old style switch back. I do have an alternating LED light kit that I need to assemble - and I suck at soldering - anybody have any tips for that. Obviously I didn't paint the blue yet either. Anyways - enjoy the pics.

Looking good HS.

for soldering parts, use a good pencil type soldering iron, and 60/40 rosin core solder. (the smaller the diameter the better)

for most electronic work, such as PCBs use a 15-20 watt iron, and use just enough solder to create a small hill. (if you was to measure its height it would be just under 1/2 mm tall)

Two more questions: How will your mask fastened to the wearers head?

Does it sit tight enough to simply put it over your face without any additional straps like the originals?

Thanks everybody - who knew finding parts and assembling them slowly would be such a process. I will try to solder again later to make the alternating 'eyes' soon. thanks for the tips.

As of now I will just copy what I know from the original - a line of holes along the ridge of the mask. This can be used to "sew" it onto the wearer's head. I did not know that the original had straps.

Easter bunny? the Cylon Empire destroyed him... guess you just have to buy one now ;)

Okay some updates again...

first the 'nose' bracket is basically found. It is a cord brace from behind a larger three pronged plug. You have to take the thing apart to get to it. Seeing how a plug is $5 I plan to take the one I bought, alter it to be like the original and mold/cast it. See picture

I realized that the two Integrated circuits in the mouth area are different. One is 14 pronged while the other is 16 pronged. I now have both types.

So the only parts I cannot find is the pug thing on the right cheek. It seems to be the back of a push button plug. Nothing I can find is even close. I will fabricate and mold one for copies.
The harness that sits on top of the nose is a bit too unclear to source but can be fabricated as well. (the two objects on the nose is a relay and the other is a miniature bulb that must be used for automotive given that it has a bulbous body and a little nipple on top. I think I found some on line that can be used but at $8 a pop I will most likely cast it as well (it is covered in gold anyways)).

So although there are several parts that need to fabricated and cast there will be a good deal of actual found parts.

I want to order off for the found parts in bulk but before I do that I want to get an idea of SERIOUS interest. For a finished mask I'm looking at $130 plus shipping. This will include the vac-ed and painted face shield, LEDs that alternate above the eye and all the greeblies that are either cast or found. I will put them together with nice globs of hot glue like the original. okay... maybe a bit cleaner.

So please let me know if you ultimately want one. If you are on the fence then still let me know. By the time I have them made I'm sure you will want one.

As of now I have no plans to make the robe unless we want to source material. I do have a talented and price conscious seamstress who will most likely be game for such a thing. That will be dealt with totally seperately from this project though.

thanks for reading through this update

I'll take two, so add that to the tally count.

Thanks for the update.

It's nice to know you were able to identify more of those hard-to-get parts...

Count me in for one mask as well, please!
