Finally I have another update

First ...we are still trying to solve our cosmichrome issue ....hopefully I will have some progress next weekend

I did have to totally strip the chrome and start all over...it was a nightmare getting it all off and going thru the primer process again

Second...I got my undersuit....

We got all of our issues with the Cosmichrome corrected today!! We got several pieces done and they came out perfect.....I will be working on all of the armor this week and should have some good pics next week!!

The secret to the process is a paint booth....you must have a quality automotive air system and gun along with a paint booth. You have to follow the cosmichrome instructions perfectly....any mistake and the process will not work correctly....trust me we wasted over a $1000 in chemicals trying to get this process down.

I used the Chrome FX System a few years, and I loved the results, but the clear coating was the down side. I had worthy results at first with the clear coat, but as time went by they became foggy. I ended up taking to a speciality paint shop to have them clear coat for me. They were having the same problem. They blamed the clear coat as a extremely hot mix. It was coming out of the tip of the spray gun as a cobweb. The manufacturer was very little help, but they did replace some of the wasted chrome chemical because of the trashed pieces. This was a groundbreaking product 10 years ago when I was trying this chroming method, and many changes have taken place since then. I have seen the cost drop, the method of delivery the chemical change from high tech pressure systems with medical grade water, and air filtering systems down to a hand held squirt bottle. Many of these systems are from good to great, but still in my opinion cost related good for small projects. All large commercial like system that I had I never did enough chroming to make it pay for itself. Small squirt bottle of shaker sized paint cans you need about 5 or more of those applicators devices driving the cost up $800 US or more. In a group chroming I was able to get suits chromed professionally less than $400 per suit. That was equal to five full suits in the piece count on what was chromed. Now if you need to redo a few pieces that are damaged that DIY method is the way to go, but remember you results will vary, and also there are many shades of chrome pigment when dealing with one manufacturer over an other, and even a different match even. Now the hard core 100% DIY guy that doesn't mind spending a few $$$ more this doesn't matter, but most of us here are on a budget to build our dream, and this is to help with some insight only. Remember your results will vary.

If I could do it all over again I would not use this process.....we are just now getting good results... I should have done vac metal....

Now I am so angry about the process I am determined to get it done so that I don't feel like a complete failure....
