What paint did you use exactly for your boots?

Hi Red Eye the 2 paints I used for the boots were . This is a silver hand paint and not a spray.

and to seal the paint I used some clear lacer, to stop the paint from smudging off everywhere or any time anyone touched it.

I've got some silver leather paint as well...

But before I've got it, I've painted my boots with silver paint, which doesn't hold up very well...

I used this method with my Krop boots, originally they were covered in chrome/ aluminium tape, as soon as you worn them this split and cracked. I removed the tape and used the paint method as above. It does chip and come away eventually as the originals did, but it don't take a long time to touch them up after every few events or so. I didn't experience any flaking off or anything with the paint.

Then I have to reapply a little paint here and there after I've worn them if necessary... that means if the costume will be finished in the next coming years...

I don't recall seeing that color before, but the style looks 99% correct. Great deal.

Great deal, indeed!

So I have to find another one who buys my extra pair of gloves, eh? Is somebody interested?

My new gloves are almost finished as well...

I have to find a way of attaching the silver band at the end right now...

NO!!!!....This isn't a Kropserkel Cylon club. No silver bands around the wrist. A real Cylon uses the same material used for the under suit pipping.

Really? How does that work? Can you post some pics of your screen Cylon's gloves, GoldCylon?

THANKS! 8)

I know that the original gloves had a strip glued on the ends that where made of the same silver vinyl material like the applications on the undersuit. That's the procedure I'm going to apply as well. My only problem is to find a way to make sure the vinyl will hold on, as I said.

A few pics of your screen-used gloves might be very helpful, like Cylon-Knight said...

Since I couldn't find correct gunmetal gray type of vinyl for my undersuit, I used black (therefore I call my costume an "action figure version" instead of screen accurate). I did put the same black marine vinyl I used for my suit patches onto my correct hockey gloves and connected the vinyl to the gloves using contact cement.

UPDATE.

Started to mod my glove today by trimming off the sleeve, just above the wrist section. Also trimmed off any stray threads by holding the gloves over the cooker. Also I received my material for the undersuit. I shall be making my ribs over the next few days and will post updates of how I get on. In the picture of the material you can see a sample that CORA sent me of the original colour. While its not 100% exactly the same its only slightly darker but certainly pretty close so I'm happy.

MATERIAL

The material has a great silverish shimmer on the correct outer side of it.

Here is a photo a found from the photo gallery. Not the best view, but clearly you can see these do not have chrome around the band. The material in the piping material.
