Demoriel - welcome to the site - and WOW. That ship is perfect.

Do you know of anyone that had made a 1:1 Basestar? I'd LOVE to see an awesome Battlestar like yours next to its arch nemesis.

Post up more info on your Atlantia and Galactica if you have it (PLEASE). Everyone here would love to see it. :D

Awesome work. I love it. If I recall you guys blue screen filmed this also?

As for the Cylon ship I believe a guy named Mark built the patterns to sell kits, but last I heard he hand not finished to sell the kits. He was kicking butt putting in together, and then stopped.

Thanks! Our team here at Custom Replicas really enjoy the support we have gotten from the BSG community. Our model was built with so much help and information on IDing parts, etc from modeling forums and friends. There is a reason why there have only been about 8 studio scale ships built in 30 years! They are a huge undertaking, literally thousands of parts, and take years to complete, and we have built 2 of the 8!

To my Knowledge nobody has built a scale Basestar, or a ship of lights for that matter! If anyone is ever thinking of building their own BSG someday, contact me and i can pass along what help i can.

You can see the Galactica and other stuff we built here: http://customreplicas.com/

Yes, we did actually film the ship with a black background, and it looks really cool.We shot some footage of the Galactica with a green screen, but to be honest, it gives a green-ish cast to the ship, and we should have just stuck with black. The pics we have on the website of the Galactica were taken as we were finishing, and we still actually had a couple of parts to put on after the photos were taken.

Here's the footage of the Atlantia (it's low res for the web, the DVD i have of the footage looks really amazing)

I have seen the detailed photos of the build of the master patterns. I sent out a call for help to link me to the sight this build was posted. It was over 1 year ago, and closer to 2 years ago the build was taken place. The builder was moving with lighting speed, and had most of the patterns finished, and had worked on the acrylic body. He had a pull from the original mold, and detailed photos, and also was able to take detail photos of the original, along with I am sure take measurements of the ship. he was able to ID and find all or most of the parts used on the original. He is a LA based model builder that does builds for a living. A bigger guy named Mark if recall with a very short temper.

OK I saw Jim Key in the credit of that awesome little film. Mark works for Jim Key or he did.

Yeah, know of which Mark you are referring to, and he and Jim are not associated anymore.

I remember seeing photos of someone (perhaps at Resin Illuminati) that was starting a studio scale basestar. I'll see if I can find that post again.

I believe that was 'Basestarcommander' aka Mark Dickson. He has been a huge contributor to many builds. I believe he has been building the SS Base Star. I also believe someone else built one I know them the name has just slipped by me for now.
Jason nice work you & your crew did on that build or I should say those builds.

@Demoriel - wow your site and video are  SHOCK AND AWE! (will you hire me??? HA).

The video had two spots that about took my breath away - where there is a lens flare on one pass and the ending shot of the forward/side... both are just "OMG" I could so see those in a film and tried to pretend they were on a big screen with sound effects all around as I watched it - SO NICE. GREAT WORK!

P.S. The 1701-D - spot on too, love, love, love it.

Thanks for the links and for the info!!!

Thanks for the praises on the build. It really was a team effort. As far as the Mark D. thing, well this is a new board, and all of that is in the past, and would prefer not to dwell on that stuff. Sometimes, partnerships/contracts start with the best intentions, and fall apart.'Nuff said.
