Noob Question Regarding Gloves

I recently purchased a set of cylon armor (no soft stuff) and included in the sale were a set of hockey gloves (pictured below).
From what I've been told, these gloves are close, but not exactly accurate.
I was wondering what model of gloves were actually used in the show. I'd also like to know if it's possible to mod the gloves I've got to get them a little more 'canon.'
I realize I'll have to dye/ stain them black; were the original cylons gloves glossy or did they have a matte finish?
If someone could point me to reference pics or a knowledge base about the gloves it would be sincerely appreciated.
Cheers!

The gloves they originally used were cooper armadillo thumb, they do come up on flea bay from time to time that

#28 Cooper Armadillo Thumb Hockey Gloves are screen
correct.
Note the fingers of a screen Cylon - they have no "nuckle" detail or flex points. Just one big finger padding. Also the "bars" that goe across the back of the hands end with pointed tips, not square ends.
Here is my thread - page with my "how to trim your gloves tut" - about 1/2 way down the page.

The "cuff" (what is left after cutting) is covered in the same vinyl used in the under suit. The bottom photo is missing this vinyl cover as you can see the Cooper band still.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I had to laugh when I saw the gloves you used because I had already taken a chance and placed a bid on a pair that looked pretty close to images I found on Google.
As you can see from
the auction, I'm bidding on the same pair!
From the pic of the screen used cylon, it looks like they made little covers for each of the padded ribs out of some 'stretch' fabric and either glued or sewed them onto the glove. That seems like the only way I could think of to get rid of the knuckle seams--jeez, so much for me adopting a casual attitude towards accuracy.
Oh well, that would be a quick and easy fix that could be accomplished with just a needle and thread.
The undersuit, on the other hand....

Yes, the under suit it the MOST important, largest and complex part - yet - it is the "you don't notice it" part of the costume.

Just a heads up those gloves your bidding on are a newer model of the 28's. Those are early to mid 80's, and not the original 78 version. Note the slit in the finger.

GoldCylon is right they are close but not 1:1... but that sounds like it will do for your build. Only members of this site would notice the glove difference I bet.

I'm happy to say that I've just won a pair of Cooper gloves--just $15 as well, wooot!
(I beat out myself in a very cut-throat bidding war)
Apart from the split seams at the knuckles and other details, are there large differences (i.e. shape or dimensional) between the pair I've won and the original, screen-used 70's versions? Are they the same size and shape?
It would seem, to me at least, that the pads could be covered with some type of fabric which could be tailored to fit each pad and sewn on.
It seems that the fabric of the gloves posted in the link have are somewhat shiny; not quite a satin finish, but a surface similar to lycra--any input?
I have a can of Meltonian gloss-black leather/vinyl dye which I plan to use on the vinyl sections of the gloves.
My question is essentially, is it possible to convert the pair I've won to look, if not identical, at least extremely close, to the screen used gloves?
Again, my many thanks to all of those who have offered their information and advice so far!

My gloves (below) didn't have the stripe up the top of the glove... and for the fingers, I just left the knuckles they way they were... Close enough for me, one day I will track down a 1:1 pair of gloves - for now these are 99% close enough for me
When you get your gloves, remember to review my "how to convert a Cooper Glove into a Cylon hand" photo tutorial" here:

Now, our ol Cylon pal nashslah had gloves IDENTICAL to yours Maj. Check out his work on them in his thread starting on page 7.

Hope this helps, and glad you survived the bidding war

Got it. For some reason, when I looked at the link you posted, I got the impression that the blue/white coopers ended up looking like the black ones without knuckle seams pictured.
I won't know until I have my gloves in hand but I'm pretty sure that the Coopers I bought can be made to look like the black ones pictured. It will involve making a series of black "slip covers" and sewing, or hot gluing them onto the pads. I'll probably have to sew elastic over the seams so the edges won't show through.
If I tuck and sew the seams then turn the slip covers inside out, it should make the pointed end which is specific to the '78 Coopers.
As I said before, this is my current impression; I won't know until I have the gloves in hand.
If I'm successful I'll post the results; if I fail you won't hear a thing.
...I can't believe I'm taking on another costume project--ugh! You'd think that Boba Fett would have taught me a lesson.

Yeah, I've heard that Fett is the hardest of the SW ones to try.

The Cylon takes all those others hands down on building it up the right way.
