Grant McCune, Star Wars and BG modelmaker/VFX artist RIP

Little spin off, not to detour from Mr. McCune. Just to discuss more about the type of work he and others in his craft do, and the recognition they get.
To me, I think talents like his are much more of a skill than "just acting." Sure, that is important and takes work... but anyone can be an actor (see: cousin Oliver! Or any child "star" - heck, even any Used Car Dealer in their own TV commercials
).Do you think most of the creative folks behind the camera never their fair share? For example: Brad Pitt gets "X" MILLIONS of dollars for about, what, 12 weeks? of work on a filim. What about the others who work for 2 years on effects, music, etc. etc. to polish and make the film presentable to today's demanding audiences? I DOUBT they get "X" MILLIONS. Yeah their work is only on the screen for a few fleeting seconds here and there, but if the cars in an exciting car chase were just hot wheels with strings pulling them... would anyone go see that movie?
Sure non-actors can earn an Oscar and probably command more income / respect with them. BUT does that equal a leading actor's pay EVER? Or get as much media attention... doesn't seem that way to me.
