It's BIG, it's BAD, and best of all it's BACK ON THE BENCH.

Time to start painting !!!

So it looks like one of those pieces of the wing on the bench has acid burns? Did the Cylons run into Species 8472.
The build looks awesome, and the can of Pepsi well that takes the cake because he is next to the build. :cylongold: :erk:

Thanks guys.

That's my battle-damaged alternate wing. It does look kind of melted in that picture.
Here's a close up.

The pepsi can is for scale but also works in case of a caffeine emergency :nah:

After a bit of grey primer I've pre-painted for the dark wing stripes. I'm hoping to mask these up tonight and maybe get the main gray color on.

@dbhs - where is the power supply typically at for a SS ship? I would think it is outside the ship... wires run into the ship? Or is it inside with a panel/cover that opens? Also will your Raider run off something like a 9 volt?

WOW! That Raider is awesome! Awesome work and detail on the 'battle damaged' wing! All it needs is paint and it will be incredible!

Gold Cylon, I loved your joke about 'species 8472' Nice to see that you're a Voyage fan (maybe I'm presumptuous there, at least a watcher..). I'm a great fan of Star Trek TNG and Voyager... I bought both full DVD sets off of Ebay for around $350 apiece, may have paid too much by some peeps opinions, but they help get me thru these bad winters, for the last 3 years now. They never get old. Niether does my 'Cylon Head' Battlestar Galactica DVD set, which I also got from Ebay... In fact was the first thing I EVER bought off of Ebay.
I never liked Deep Space Nine or 'Enterprize' very well, but TNG and Voyager are two of the best Sci-Fi works EVER, in my opinion. They're right up there with BSG Classic and the new BSG. :salute:

The power supply is external. The original studio models used brass plugs on the model that connected to the internal wiring. These would be placed in a few locations on the model that would be out of view while filming. I actually duplicated those plugs on this model but they are "decorative" and not functional for power. Here's some pics of the studio model and my re-creation of the details:

On the studio scale shuttle I'm duplicating the power plugs but making them functional and so far they work great for powering the lights. Even considering I'm using halogen lights for the engines.

Here's pics of the rear plugs in use on the shuttle:

And the front plugs are the 2 off-aligned holes in the nose cover plate.

OMG dbhs! That is amazing... you even copied the power plugs! whoa

Can't wait to see this raider done, and I agree with everyone else the "damaged" wing is just genius.

They should hire you for the new Galactica movie to do the models, dbhs!

Great work so far!

As long as they pay me by the hour, I'll do it.
