My name is Rob, and I live in Palmer, AK. I'm active duty Air Force, 21 years now, and I'm an F-16 crew chief (yes, a real Viper). I'm relocating to Beale AFB in Northern Cali next month. I build, modify, refinish and play guitars. I also modify and build custom effects pedals--available on my webpage. As far as costumes and props, I've done several Batman costumes (urethane and classic spandex), Star Wars, Star Trek, and BSG TOS. I'm currently designing and about ready to start a new BSG Colonial Warrior laser pistol from the ground up with resin and metal parts, as well as a full electronics array. Once I have the master built--I'll be offering them on a first come/first served basis with a maximum in-progress list of 10 at a time and a wait list. After that, I'll start on a Viper helmet. I still do some custom Star Wars props--blasters. I also designed and sell blaster scope reticules--I have them on eBay.
I'm also an active and PROUD member of the Blackstar Squadron!
I look forward to iteracting with all of you, and hopefully hanging out with our California members.
Cheers!

Welcome Spectre, and your builds sounds great. The metal version of the blaster sounds awesome. I have been to Beale many times, but work related. I like in Sacramento so only a 45 minute drive away. Post some photos of your past, and current work.

I'll dig some pics up. We're currently camping on the Kenai Peninsula with the RV overlooking the ocean, but we have wifi here. Give me an hour, or so.

Welcome ...I'm pretty new here my self and Roger on the guitars, Pedals and props!....My home base is Sacramento not far from Beal....My main addiction is R/C model aircraft mostly WWII stuff but do have friends in Woodland who build and fly the jets.
I think I would like to get to know you better cuz we got alot in common and maybe with your experience, you could give me some imput on a thread I authored here called Basic Vacuum Forming and Machine Building.
Guitars and music were a passion of mine for a long time, Played and had many bands in the late 80's through the mid 90's playing mostly clubs and casinos in Cali and Nevada.....Never built a Guitar though.
I did build a Darth costume in 1979 around a Original Don Post Mask......Long time ago....no plastic parts then just fashioned everything from balsa then painted it!
How cool is it your a crew chief
Right now I'm taking care of my elderly father and all of my tools, Equipment, Old footage of BOG , my BG DVD's are all in storage and I'm going nut's not haveing my stuff! so I have found an outlet for my frustration here.
I will build a Cylon someday but for now I'm just a talker!
anyway Glad your here. Hope we can be friends!
And Thank you for your service

Big Al

Welcome aboard.
Make sure you sneak over to Homer and have a salty dog in the Salty Dog Saloon out on the spit. Drop me a line when you get to Beale.

We're in Bear Creek in Seward today--going on a Kenai Fjord tour tomorrow. Yesterday we went bear watching and salmon fishing--caught three reds and saw 2 grizzlies and 1 black bear. Will certainly look you up when we hit Cali..

Hey Big Al! Once I get to Cali we will certainly hang out. I'll be setting up my new shop for vaccuforming and other goodies--we'll work on some Cylon molds along with some other stuff.
I love being a crew chief, and promised some others that I'd dig some pics out.
The first two are of my wife getting her F-16 ride and I launched her out:

This is me back in 1998 with "MY" F-16:
This pic was of us at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas for weapons tests--this one made it into the Code One magazine:
