my rifle build

I have been busy. my rifle is almost done. I started with PVC and MDF board. I glued the board together to get the correct thicknesses then cut the forms, and shaped them. once shaped I assembled the pieces leaving the center section hollow for battery power and electronics for lighting. I blended the pieces with bondo and sanded them smooth. then coated the wood areas in glazing putty with some advice from skullbeast. I sanded the whole thing down primered and painted it. the panel is held in place by magnets. The lighting is almost done. it is a simple led chaser circuit that will run down the inside of the clear barrel and end at the tip. it will look like the blaster energy is running down the barrel and out the tip. here are some pics of my build thus far.

It looks good! It does seem to me to be a bit thin.

Wow, great work so far!

Can't wait to see the finished prop.

Any plans for incorporating any electronics?

Okay, I've looked at the photos first and just finished reading the text.

So your rifle will indeed feature some electronics. Nice touch!

Do you have a blaster sound yet?

The barrel is at 1.5 and the clear tube is at 1.25 . the widest part (battery chamber) is 1.5 without the details added and the handle and stalk are at 1 inch. I made the alterations because the larger handle was too big for my small hands. with the gloves on I couldn't grab the handle. As you know I am not as tall as a screen cylon so my hands are not in proportion of a 6 foot or taller person. the bulk of the gloves took away my ability to push the trigger. I know its a bit thin but I will order one of yours when it's ready. If you all want a perfectly screen accurate version skullbeast is your man. get one when they are ready. Hey Skullbeast I am sending you a PM.

to answer the questions about the magnets yes they are in place.

sure I would love a sound file. I am not sure how i would work it in i dont think the chamber could handle a second board. I would have to redesign the board some how. and add a speaker.

No problem!

But I think I've sent it before... but maybe I'm mistaken.

It's hard to think with three different brains atop such a dizzying high pedestal...

I am starting my undersuit in a couple weeks. got my custom dyed fabric from a dying art a couple weeks ago. once i am done with this gun I am going to start my armor. the big project. everything else I have. I lucked out and found the correct belt on ebay for $40.00. boots are done and gloves are done just the big items left to do.

Congratulations for finding the belt! They're quite hard to find these days...

Do you have any photos of it?

Are you going to make the undersuit all by yourself or have you found a seamstress who will take the job?
