The article was none-too-favorable of TOS, though - projecting modern sensibilities on a 30-year old film. Some people just can't get past the budgetary and technological limitations of that era. 
I would agree that this is good news for TOS fans, however.

Some just can't enjoy something for what it is... sad.
And, yes, yes! TOS a-new will be VERY NICE. I hope the film is realized.
