I'm fairly certain that's in the pilot somewhere.
Nice article. Says it pretty well.

Okay, Appreciate it.... Though it is one season , finding a specific "Line" is not easy
Even though I have watched at least 50 times

I know what you mean. They did have a lot of recurring situations (especially dogfights).
Recently I was struggling to remember just when Starbuck said "We lost some good pilots out there," until I realized it was "
up there" and he must have been standing on a planet when he said it, which had to be Kobol.

Funny I just started watching BSG episodes online when I saw your post. You probably have an answer already but just in case you don't. It's Season 1 Episode 1, at 21:50ish time index.

Hope this helps...

Hi,
I think I found the quote you were looking for if the quote you meant is when Starbuck says, "We lost some good pilots, up there". It's in S1 E5 Lost Planet of the Gods - Part Two at 41:55ish.

Thanks, but I meant the one I was talking about in another thread.

It's Starbuck saying "Now, let's just see what we have out there."

I guess the best answer to that is... :frak:
Misunderstood, but as I keep watching I'll keep it in mind

Just what in the Samuel Langhorne HELL is a "Star World," anyway? Their terminology, confusing "galaxy" with "solar system", "microns" as a unit of time, and every call-a-rabbit-a-smeerp thing they did, was kind of a disaster. That kind of thing can grate on a viewer in a hurry, and I'm glad Ron Moore went with the "naturalistic s-f" approach. Sometimes, a cigar that Starbuck is smoking is a "cigar," not a "fumarello" or whatever damned thing. The reimagined series might not have the alleged hokey charm of the original, but I'll take its actually engaging story and vastly superior writing, acting, effects, and well, EVERYTHING over the original series any day of the week.
the terminology is what i missed the most in the New Galactica as compared to the old. It always made sense to me that a culture from another star system (another galaxy in point of fact!) would have different terms for units of time, occupations, pets/animals etc. i garuantee that if ever we meet a humanoid race from another world (or even a wholly alien type of life) the high likelihood is that they won't have the exact same words for "dog", "cigar" or "minute" that we do.

Well, plus I thought all those nouns ending in -on were somewhat reminiscent of ancient Greek.

I still like the original better, mostly because of the Cylons and the original Cylon raider design. However, when it comes to the dialog I did like how the newer series used "Oh my Gods!" or "Gods damn it!". Also the use of "So say we all".

The original series was notoriously unclear about Colonial theology.
"Lost Planet of the Gods" and "War of the Gods," but "Lords" (not gods) of Kobol, and the Seraphs were never called gods either. They say "the wisdom of the Lords" but also "Good Lord" and "Oh, Lord." "Thank the Lords of Kobol" but also (I think) "Thank the Lord." Always "Oh my God," "May God be with you," etc.
I don't think they ever explicitly referred to multiple "gods" (as a reality rather than a concept) in the dialogue, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong. The only discussion I can recall is between Adama and Apollo about the nature of Count Iblis, in which Adama scotched the idea that he could be a god.
