The teaser series

For over a year I have been working on assembling a team of professionals to recapture the magic of the original 78 series models. I worked with Glen Larson before his passing to help reach this goal. It has been a slow process to get there. What the bottom line goal is to replace all of the model film footage with new, and expanded moves in Hi-Def. Glen loved the idea of having the chance to give Galactica the model moves that the show deserved. To give you an idea of what the 78 series had to the last episode of the 2003 series. The 78 series had a total of about 35 total film captured moves that were run over, and over again (looped) the entire run of the series. Yes 35 seen mostly in the 1st few hours of the show, and then just played back over, and over again. The final episode of the RDM Galactica in a 2+ hour finally had over 900 brand new original moves. Now is that just jaw dropping hideous.
Now what the goal is with Glen's guidance a demo reel is being worked on. Jim Key a well known model builder supplied the Battlestar raw film footage. The edit guys have been working their magic with the footage we have. It is very limited, and it wasn't filmed or video captured but a series of photos. Each clip has anywhere from 600 on up to 2500 pictures taken, and then stitched together to look like it is moving. Alfredo Alvarez, and David Kerin and the current CGI editors. They have done a great job, and a public thank you.

Looks great!

I guess you mean 35 moves for the Galactica itself? Because I can almost believe it includes all the moves for the Vipers and Raiders too!

DAMN! Was that the filming miniature or a rendered scan? I honestly can't tell. If it's the original, she sure does still film pretty after all these decades. Thanks very much for the teaser. SO looking forward to more and glad to hear that the project hasn't been completely scrapped since Mr. Larson's passing!

Glad you guys like it. This for demo purposes is a replica. The original models will be used once funding has been approved by Universal.

Let's pray to the Lords of Kobol that they get enough funds to make it happen!

In the original production time, money, and technology was a big factor. Things like replacing looped miniatures film loops is just one of the ideas. Here is another idea set forth. This is inside the Imperious Leaders Chambers before the attack on the Colonies. Didn't you ever wonder what was on that blank wall he was staring at. Wonder no more. Thanks David Kerin for your work on this. Note the time stamp date. This project is a year old, and moving, but since we don't have funding yet we still need to keep out M-F 9-5 job, and do things like this on the spare time of life, but with some luck we can get this wrapped up by years end.

One word on this: Masterpiece!

David's earlier work on some of the episodes was great but that simply blows one away. Bravo!
