Painting and finishing your armour

I have seen so many different types of paint that claim chrome finishing.
Sometimes it's hard to even guage which is the best option for my armour.
Today I have found possibly another option to investigate.
I have been shown a plastic vinyl wrap that is used for sign writing and cars.
The down side is that it is quite expensive about $200.00NZD per square meter plus installation.
In having a chat with the sign writer I may be able to do a trade off with 3d printing for him in return, we'll see how things progress.
I have a full set of armour now, thank you so much for your help Hand Schaub with this, once i get my act together ill have to start a build thread.
What is everyone else's thoughts on the wrap process.

If it's chrome.. why not?
It'll also add extra stiffness making the outfit more rigid / tougher I'd imagine?
Either way, keep us posted.

Paint vs plate - the timeless question.
I guess it boils down to budget. If you can, plate is the always hands down the winner. But it is expensive and finding a shop is tricky. Now there are some NICE paint and coating methods, don't get me wrong.
But a sign type wrap - that's a new one. VERY interesting idea. Be sure to report back how it goes, Centurion!

Well after seeing the sign writer I managed to find on eBay some chrome plastic wrap for a whole lot cheaper than the sign writer was offering it at.
I have ordered a reasonable sized piece to try during the holidays (my very first Christmas break off ever) so guess what I'll be up to.
I'll have to start by build thread and see how much I can pull off during the holidays.
I'd start with putting my back pack together and making the necessary adjustments to allow for my VT3 plus speaker and battery pack.
I'm looking forward to getting this underway.
Finally.

Hi all, trying not to hijack this thread, but it is a painting question, so it seemed silly to start another thread. I can find very little reference material for the two panels on the rear of the helmet... are they gloss Black, or gunmetal grey? Same goes for the mouth grille, which seems to look different in every photo I look at!

Standard Centurion, both are gunmetal gray.
Command Centurion, both are black.
All the color info you seek is here for future reference:

Oops, I see I need to add mouth grill is gray to the Standard Centurion on my pic.

good luck with the chrome wrap. i think you will struggle not to get creases on the corners though

I have seen that a few years ago, and at the time it was some what like a heat shrink but it did have problems on the rounded areas of the surface. Maybe they have profected it a bit more since then. Can't wait to see the out come.
