VERY nice link. I have had my eye on getting a Viper. It would be nice to have lights too... I mean, what is my Raider giong to shoot at when I'm done building it???

Now someone needs to make the exhaust port smoke like used when hitting the turbos. The lights a great start. 8)

It's been done before, but it isn't safe.
The modeler built the viper with gow lights in the engine and ran a plastic airbrush hose to a hole in the middle of the rear engin part. He hooked the hose up to a Badger can of Propel and the cheap airbrush adaptor that only opens the can.
When he wanted the engine "smoke" he turned the can upside down and sprayed propel out the hose.

During filming of the original series, they used some kind of dry ice to imitate the turbo exhausts, right?

Yes it was something along that line of effects.

It wasn't dry ice it was liquid nitrogen.
The effect is simple to recreate but care must be taken !
You can get almost the same effect if you turn over a can of Dust Off or one of those compressed gas dusters sold in office supply stores.
The spray from a can that is upside down will give you the cloud as well as some large drops of liquid. The liquid will boil off at room temp.
The cloud and liquid will be very cold and can cause frost bite if sprayed on skin.
Watch the stuff you use and only spray it outdoors as some of the stuff has additives to make you sick if you try and huff it like the mustard sent added to the Testors propellant for air brushes.
For larger cans than Propell or Dust Off you can find bubble gum remover in janitor supply stores, or look for letter bomb detectors at your local spy shop( if sprayed on paper it causes the paper to go transparent till the liquid evaporates).

Very cool effects guy, or you have been watching the effect guys while on the sets while doing your other duties. Set decorator right?
