Glad you've joined up. Your builds are AMAZING! I've seen your concept Raider before buy some link/post/I forget... and wow-o-wow you have more cool builds. Thanks for the link to your site. There is a lot of good info and pics on the builds... very well done. After I go pick up a pizza I know what I'm going to be doing while I eat it
reading up on all those ships. Cool. I have a Raider build going on but, again like another new member, you are waaaaaaaaaay more talented and my poor Raider will look like a fourth grader made it
lol
Do you think you'll ever try to build a SS Galactica?

Hey dbhs, In your Viper Mk 1 Work in Progress Build Diary, could you explain the "pin wash on the panel lines" please?
I can see before/after... and that rocks! What is the process of a pin wash?

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys.
I proably won't be doing a studio scale Galactica any time soon if at all. I know that's the ultimate SS build and I enjoy watching others do theirs. I hear they are a 10-year project at least. I tend to go for the smaller ships that have a lot of detail on them....just my preference.
The pin wash is similar to a regular wash in terms of thinning down the paint but instead of flooding the wash over an area of the model you just apply it to the panel lines using a tiny detail brush. If it's working right I can usually just touch the tip of the brush to the panel line and the wash will flow down and along the panel line by capilary action.
I hope my description makes sense.

Sounds good! I got it. I'll have to try it on my build. I noticed how you scribe the raised panel lines on the ships. I never thought about how that would at that extra realism before. Good idea.
P.S. I love all the extra effort on your Colonial One build - wow. I bet your ships could, even at thier scale, pull some screen used duty - they are that detailed! Great work. Looking forward to MORE - especially the rest of the SS Raider, and it's wicked awesome damaged wing!!!

Hey guys !
Thanks. Unfortunately I haven't made any progress lately. I have some real-life stuff getting in the way but that will be over in a few weeks. Then I'll be back at it in a big way. I have the final parts I need now to finish off the build and once that's done it's on to painting. I'm looking forward to that part actually.
While the paint's drying on this one I'll be getting back into building the studio scale shuttle. I'll post a thread for that here when I get back on it.

A studio scale shuttle, that sounds awesome. I'd like to get one of those someday to go with they same scale Land Ram.
