Astrosled Concept Art101 viewsActually, the basis for the Astrosled pre-dates "Buck Rogers". It was initially built for an early Doug Trumbull / Showscan film / test by Lorne Peterson and Jon Erland shortly after they finished working on "Star Wars" in early 1977. This sled was commissioned and built for that. At some point the script for the "Olympiad" episode came through and they knew they would need a bobsled-like spaceship. Someone remembered the prop for the Showscan test and arrangements were made for it to be rented.
