No. not this year. I went last year and it was fun. I've never been into comics much and the few that I do like are all comedy ones, not the superhero variety. I went last year just to see Stan Freberg who most people don't know about.

Never heard of Stan Freberg, but I just did a Google on his video work, and watch a commercial on You Tube, and it was funny for its time.
I have only been to a handful on cons myself, and Wonder Con once about 3 years ago. It will be fun, but not a comic book get together as much as I recall, but Sci Fi in general.

Stan Freberg changed radio and advertising profoundly back in the 50s and 60s. He was the first person to use humor in advertising. Came up with the name for the Grammy award. His radio show from the 50s is genius. Way ahead of his time.

This site has downloads for his entire radio show: http://www.archive.org/details/stan_freberg_show
If you're interested in listening to this I recommend starting with "All About Werewolves (10/06/57) " as the "Madison Avenue Werewolf" skit is hilarious. It starts about 8 minutes into the show. Unfortunately the quality of these audio files is not very good. The radio show is avaialble on CD as well.

Re: Studio Scale Cylon Raider
As far as I know. He was last year when I saw him at wondercon but he is getting old so I had to go see him when I had the chance. I got his autograph and talked with him for a bit which was very cool. My dad is a big fan of his and has some of the original records that came out back then so I grew up listening to his stuff all the time. It was cool to meet him in person after all these years.

Hello, killer raider!! Wow nice job on the battle damage!! I like all of the layers that you did. If I may ask where dose one acquire such a cool kit? Out of curiosity sake how accurate is the kit? Any pros or cons?

Thanks. This kit is not available anymore unfortunately. It's remarkably accurate, actually, nearly perfect.Skullbeast wrote:Hello, killer raider!! Wow nice job on the battle damage!! Here it is with the last bit of the dark weathering and the dusting applied without clear coat. The dusting effect really pulls all the colors together. It's got the aged look that I was after and is starting to look like it had gotten used and abused as a filming model.
I'm pretty happy with it at this point.

This one shows the bottom with the dusting applied only on the left side.

Here's with both sides done.

Thanks, guys. It's really fun to see it all come together. I hope i have time to get the guns and engine fins on by this weekend. Maybe some final pics then. I have to remember to do the bars on the canopy too. The kit was made by Mike Salzo.

It still not done yet, though, so still time to screw it up if I don't pay attention to what I'm doing.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm looking forward to taking pics with a backdrop and good lighting.
