Do you have any photos of it?

Are you going to make the undersuit all by yourself or have you found a seamstress who will take the job?
Its going to sound odd but my mother is going to do it. She was a seamstress (retired now) and its some good bonding time. I am going to take my daughter on a road trip up to Sacramento and spend a week there working on it. then she will finish what we dont after I leave. I am looking forward to it.

It doesn't sounds odd at all. My mum did the robe for my Civilian for me.

Good luck with your suit and hey, perhaps she wants to have another one made after finishing yours? *Hint, hint*

All right, thanks!

With a little luck, I have mine started by a local seamstress next month. *Fingers crossed*

If she refuse to make it, which is understandable, I'll get back to you if it's okay.

Thanks.

Have you also found some gunmetal colored vinyl to be used for the patches?

Aside from the basic farbic of the suit, this stuff isn't easy to get either.

yeah I did. i found it at a place in burbank called foam mart. they have floridian gunmetal grey. that is what i am using. it isnt shiny. its a satin finish but looks amazing next to the fabric. they also ordered the thick white lycra spandex for me so that i could get it dyed. they have an entire roll of each currently.

go to a local fabric store and ask if they have or can order floridian gunmetal grey. or order it and pay the shipping from foam mart. it might be pricy but its worth it. how much do you need. I could get it and ship it to you. we would just have to work out some payment.

Hm, I don't know exactly how much fabric I need.

But I can tell you after I've met the seamstress when we've talked about it.

So I suggest we postpone it until September 8, if that would be okay.

jclayman99 - I'd like some of the base fabric maybe... how much do you have... how did you color match it? Post up or PM me some more info. I'm going to make my own undersuit too - and may ask my mom/other family too. That's totally normal to do! (AND you'll get a better product I think too with someone who cares doing the work)

I bought 5 yards. I figure it will take at least 3 together the suit done. But with extra for any mistakes. If you want the fabric contact foam mart in Burbank CA. And ask for the owner then ask for the thick white Lycra spandex. But you will have to have it dyed. I had it matched to a piece from Cora. A dyeing art dyed his as well so it was a perfect match. Just a heads up though, the owner has one foot out the door due to the economy. She may not be around much longer she has 30 years in the business so her stuff is top grade.

So, how much have you paid for dying the fabric? I can imagine it isn't cheap...

Please feel free to PM me if you don't want to post it here.
