Has anyone tried the killer chrome kits, as an alternative to vacuum metalizing?

just looking into it as a lower cost alternative that looks like it would give the same finish, and if it gets scratched you could repair it. theoretically.

Awesome thanks John.
If "they" say it can't be done, it just means "they" cant do it.

We've used something like that for painting my armor...
But I can't recall the name.

In what ways does it not match up to vacuum metalizing John. Sounds like you have tried it. Is it the finish or durability

and this one

The plastic sheet is a laminate of Petg, Chrome (Mylar) and a black ABS backing sheet.
Available in thicknesses of .30 to 1/2 inch........ (1/2 " would be a little thick for a DIY Vac Former but .30 to .60 would be great!)

You should look at their video demos on their web site as they also make a chrome paint that is awesome!
Here are the specs on the formable chrome
