Unseen CYLON centurion designs...

While I was working at Optic Nerve in 2001, the owner, John Vulich was trying to get the gig for designing and building the Cylons for the new series. Vulich usually used John Wheaton as designer for most things produced by Optic during this time. Being a huge BSG fan, I wanted to contribute some ideas, too. Here are a few of my ideas I wanted to develop, but Vulich wanted to stick with Wheaton's style and designs. No hurt feelings there, as I also liked Wheaton's ideas, though they look more like bio-armor than an actual 'robot'. The last 3 (more dynamic) drawings are by John Wheaton. John did many more than these, but these were my favorites.

I would like to note that though I never officially submitted my ideas, the final design that the show went with sports a "V" shaped eye very similar to my designs!

With the concept helm I did, I was thinking of the rest in simular terms like this one..

More of a medieval style with hanging plates.

I like design 8 myself, and it has a bit of a Cylon / RoboCop look to it with med evil twist to it.

I think 4 had a bit of a stargate feel to it. Or necromonger look. It's interesting.
