G'day from the UK
Hi boys, girls and toasters!
Im Rob, a keen costumer and super sci-fi nerd. Based in the UK (Woking, Surrey) aged 34.
I'm a member of the 501st and regularly troop in my stormtrooper armour and also own a Royal Guard, (so i'm used to seeing next to nothing). My latest project which has just been completed is a shocktrooper from the 80's mini series V.
Basically if its sci-fi and from the 80's I love it!
So my new project will be an original Cylon centurion, I am a big fan of screen accuracy without sacrificing look and practicality, also I have little to prop making skill so a lot of what I will be doing will be purchased however I have loads of enthusiasm.
The first part of the build will be the lid, so if people can help with that would be great.
Question 1, Abs lid or resin? what the originals made of?
Question 2 (haven't yet gone through the whole forum yet so I apologise now) who are the good armorers etc..
Question 3 Anyone with detailed reference pictures if you don't mind sending them my way would be fab.
I am really keen to make this look the part.
Many thanks in advance!

Brutalmagic, WELCOME!
I too am "stuck" in the 80s
A great place to be!
(Isn't your Avatar pic Streethawk?)
We'd love to see pics of your 501st suits and V build. We are not a "ONLY" Cylon site. Love to see all the items our talented members make. I'm pondering a TK after my Cylon... so I may have questions for you one day
Your first lesson:
The Classic Cylon Centurion (or any cylon for that matter) world is MUCH SMALLER (like super tiny) Vs. the Star Wars vendors/suppliers. I don't know of many more than what we have listed in our Cylon Store/builder forums. That said - all the vendors we do have listed are quality guys - the only vendor I could personally recommend to try to avoid would be Shadowdale (an under suit maker). He has stiffed our very first Cylon Empire VIP - Red Eye. Shadowdale took Red Eye's money and vanished - NO SUIT.
Now, Your questions. Happy to help:
1. Styrene is the most common. The originals were Styrene too unless my memory is just totally out of whack. Not as sturdy as ABS, but accurate.
2. Armorers are listed here: viewforum.php?f=56 (MUST BE A LOGGED IN SITE MEMBER TO SEE THIS!)
Any of them rock, what you end up with probably boils down to personal taste and or what you can spend.
3. As my friend Jenne said - our Gallery is THE place. GoldCylon, myself and Red Eye have spent crazy amounts of time making (and still building) what we hope is the biggest and best Classic BSG (and other Sci-Fi) image site EVER!
Centurion here: http://www.byyourcommand.net/cylongalle ... php?cat=72
Command Centurion here: http://www.byyourcommand.net/cylongalle ... php?cat=71
Keep reading up on all the posts we have - LOTS of info!!!

I wonder if Cylon Centurions could be equipped with special gear for air, land and sea assaults...

So is so uncanny on the timing of that photo. I am the set designer, and builder of a 1950's show using those costumes. Rocket Patrol is the name serial that I am working on.groupleaderzeta wrote:remindss me of "rocketman" TV showRed Eye wrote:I wonder if Cylon Centurions could be equipped with special gear for air, land and sea assaults...
