New Member from Michigan

Post by JorgeElGrande » Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:05 pm

Hello there! I'm new to this forum, and new to building costume armor. I am halfway through a Star Wars Sandtrooper armor build for my son using pepakura, fiberglass and bondo. I eventually want to try doing some VacuForming.

When I'm done with his armor, I am starting a Cylon armor project. I've loved Cylons since I was was a kid. I'd love to buy a set of armor online, but that's not something I can do. Not just the fact that money is tight either. The biggest problem I have is that I'm 6'3" and am a big guy. Very huskey! So I needed to research scratch builds to turn me into a Cylon. I found printable PDF pages at http://www.bazookajo.me.uk/PaperModels/Cylon/Cylon.htm

I was able to size up the pages so the pieces fit me, but they only have the helmet, chest, neck and backback. I started getting into Pepakura and seeing if I could create my own pep files of the rest (shoulders, arm bands, bracers, belt, boot toppers, etc...). But I am not really CGI savy yet.

Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated. And also let me say that I am excited that there is this forum to share this on. It's an honor to join you! :byyourcommand:

Welcome. I'm a slightly husky Cylon as well. Ah the joys of starting new projects. Good luck with your projects - we are here to help.

JorgeElGrande - welcome!
Post up photos of your trooper if you want too... we are not "only" Cylons here.

And if you need to see certain parts and pics of them as you work on files to make your own - be sure to check out our Gallery and Empire sites, and mine too ;).

Welcome Jorge, and just a note that the on screen actors that played the Cylons were big guys. Football, and Basketball players so being a big guy to play the bit of a Cylon in costume is perfect for you.
