By Someone's Command by Autumn 2014 - hopefully

Hiya all!
I've been making sort of update comment on what I'm doing in my intro thread so since I'm past intro and into the realm of actually being underway I thought I'd open up shop in this board instead.

I'm currently doing a head/helmet project using the bazooka joe pdf which is has gone very well with the overall form being there. Being a nitpicker The plan is to fill in the brow along the top of the eye with filler and narrow to the more characteristic furrow which the paper model lacks (likely because it would be a swine to make work in a silver card model like the pattern is intended).
My personal modification is to also fill around the grill so the mouth piece can be removed and refitted wih rare earth magnets. The reason being that my head is 62cm round or 7 3/4 in US hats and struggle to get in with the mouth on but can without. I'm 5'9" so making the helmet bigger than that on a 6'5" Cylon would make me look like a bobblehead so this is the way forward.

The aim at first is to build a torso display but I will chase everything down. I'm a WWII re-enactor so I'm no stranger to buying expensive gear and trooping around in it.

Anyway, customary poor quality phone pictures of me having done very little on the way to my goal.

And for the observant, no, I'm not at all ashamed to have Xena: Warrior Princess on the PSX in my hot list. :cylon:

Cheers, guys!

Is he indeed? I'm wondering what his impression is. I do American, specifically 2nd Rangers medic and the occasional mortar operator.

Today saw me getting the outside resin coated. I was hoping to get the inside done as well but I'm in Scotland and it's freezing so it took three hours to kick off and even then I had to bring it in and sit it in the bathroom.

Not too bad looking at present, post pics in the morning.

Today I've hit what could be an insurmountable snag. I ordered a Jupiter electronics eye and the aperture of the lights is dramatically smaller than the filter. It did occur to me that the papercraft model was never intended to be used like this so there would be problems but this is a big one. It's left me thinking the scale must be way off.
Ho-hum, that's the end of that.

Cheers, I think I've got something going that may work. I do intend to get a vac form full set at some stage but I want to have made something if only a display piece to try out the chroming company I found.

The eye socket and cheekbones on the skull do need reshaping to make them accurate to canon so I'm planing on opening up the back to fudge it all together. I'm free all weekend so we'll see what I come up with.
Pictures following.

Keep the updates coming. It's always neat to see a project go from paper to chrome.

Plenty of help here so ask away if you need it.

Oh - just to answer your question, my primary impression is Fallschirmjager (FJR5- Komp.15) but I have a full Heer and one of the few Kotholic Kriegsfarrer impression (Catholic Chaplain). So... see you in my sights :)
