Ive been working on a Cylon pistol for the last few days. I used this https://app.box.com/s/f4rhw74no2mlde40q2hk as my go by instructions. I just printed out what I needed and used some scrap wood and plastic that I had. Its not perfect..... I goofed on the handle hexagons so I may go back and redo the handle sides with thin plastic. And its off kilter in some spots. The 9 rib parts on top were the hardest. I tried making them from plastic, but plastic is hard to cut straight, so I used wood that was a wee bit wider than I needed but I just shortened the side details to accommodate Its outside right now getting a fresh coat of black..
Thank you. I am hoping to add the holster. Cylon-Knight sent me the measurements to the straps and the pyramid studs. Im guessing at other parts but hope to have it come together.
Its taken me several days to get this going but Im closer now to finishing it. Its not perfect but Im proud to have built it.
Cylon-Knight supplied me with some measurements from his holster. His tutorial was a huge help! Located here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=531&start=225 Big shout out to him for answering all my questions!
I didn't find a decent sized black piece of leather for the main part, so I went with brown. It was big enough and when I finished cutting it I used Meltonian Nu Life Black to paint it. The length for mine was a little over 15.5 inches and 3 inches wide at the widest part.
The black stripping needed to be 3/4 inch, so I purchased 1.5 and cut it in half. The rivets were medium. You can also see I started redoing the handle of the blaster. I wasn't pleased with the way the hexagon parts looked. I decided to bondo those and cut the shapes out of plastic and glue the pieces to the handle. I feel it turned out alot better.
I'm not done, still adding the pyramid studs, which is proving to be the hardest parts so far. I happened to have some snaps from a previous costume. This is where I am at the time of this posting.
I'm a little worried about the pyramid studs staying on, some have a "better hold" than others. Might eventually use a glue to attach them more securely.
I was going to put up yesterday, yes, those pyramids are just on with tension. Some glue in there will help keep them in place. Trooping with it, be sure to baby them or they may go missing.
