I spoke with Tom DeSanto

Post by GoldCylon » Sun Oct 25, 2009 2:00 pm

Last night while at the Warner Grand Theater to see Stu Phillips play some of his work over the past decades that included Galactica, Buck, and other scores I was lucky enough to be seated near Tom DeSanto. We spoke during the intermission and after the performance. Tom is a great guy, and easy to speak with. He told me many things about the past 2001 production that I haven't heard before, and asked if any of these items from the past would be used. He said that he can't use them, and the new production is moving along a bit slow, but moving, and that everything would be new. At some point he will release a book of illustration of the items he has stored from the past attempt to relaunch Galactica.
During my conversation with Tom I mentioned I was attempting to put together a group of Cylons, and Warriors together for the 2010, and 2011 Comic Con. He listened, as I mentioned that Andrew Probert has excepted the invitation to attend, and I was sure what direction to go with since I haven't done this before, but if he would be interested in attending. He suggested I talk with Richard Hatch, and that if he attended it would be from a request from Richard only. So I sent Richard an email and gave him the low down, and hope to hear back from him with some good news about how to go about this.

Photos and audio files to be posted later from the show last evening.

Yeah contacting Richard is easy, just getting a reply back is the hard part, but this is a matter that I think he will reply back to, and so did Tom.

HEY MAN! Richard is a Warrior...and it is only fitting he'd be a guest of the warriors! (jk)

Hey this is great! You are on the ball Dale! If Richard shows up and gets Tom there...ah man! What a kick off this will be for us all!

I just posted you challenge on our boards and I am also soliciting the artists from Colonial Fleets for our website designs you and I have been talking about.

MAN! WOO HOO! This is kicking off huge!

Having further conversations via phone with one of the inside guys that works close with Tom I was given a more straight forward realistic look about the movie, and because of the timing of getting things lined up for the new movie 2012 is more like the release time of the BSG movie, and if that is true Tom might not want to attend because the major leg work will not have been completed enough to make an appearance to talk about the project. So don't keep high hopes for this happening on how I see this at this current stage of the production.

Good advice but it is still all possible...you never know how this can snowball by then...

I think I can do that. Some of my BSG toys don't travel well, may bring pic's of those.
