Original BSG sfx-reusage in the film "Space Mutiny"

Post by Red Eye » Sun Feb 07, 2010 3:30 pm

All right, it is being said many times that the original series itself suffered from its extensive reuse of sfx-footage... very well...

But what can you say when the producers of a TOTALLY DIFFERENT movie wholly lifting (or stealing, call it as you wish) the SAME sfx-sequences without permission and use them for their own?

All this happened in the south-african sci-fi-movie "Space Mutiny", produced in 1988.

Watch it, you're gonna hate it...

OMG! Southern Sun... WTF! The shuttle still even says GAL(actica)...

Vipers, Raiders (as Pirate ships!)... Was the Pilot (in the silver suit) supposed to be in the Viper??? It was like a room, not a cockpit. Until the end when he was beamed out, I thought he was on the *ahem* Southern Sun working the lasers.

The lasers sound so bad, and some are ripped off sounds from Star Wars.
Their laser pistols look like a shoe box with a handle. HAHA
Looked like they took some costume ideas from the original "V"

SOOOO LAME! Red Eye - that vid is SO bad, you were right.

But, I did like a few of the women's costumes ;)

Did I promised too much?

It's one movie you're gonna love to hate...

My personal favorites are the laser sounds of the Vipers... oh sorry... the "Stingray" Vipers... they sound like ordinary bullets! It's so bad...

Even the worst episode of "G1980" is better compared to this piece of :censored:

I have heard of this movie before, but that is the 1st time I have seen it. I am sure most of there budget went to buying the rights to use the archived film footage, because nothing else seems very worthy of using.

I own this movie strictly to show people I am not crazy. It is bad. It is beyond bad. It is the kind of bad that makes the Toxic Avenger seem like a runner up for Picture of the year. The MST3K version is priceless though!
