Re: Eye scanner contest $50 or less
Hello Everyone,
Just a minor update on things. I am waiting on the final parts for the scanner, projections still say I should have it together by next Friday(with video). I have also ordered parts to start the micro-controller project for next year.
I need a template for the arc of the LEDS, I know helmets differ, so the more the better. I downloaded the bazooka Jo helmet templates and put together the visor, it looks to me that the LEDS are straight and 5 inches(12.5 Cm) wide. I have also seen videos that show the LEDs set back in the slot or following the front edge of the brow. So where are they in the original screen used? any pics?
I also thought I would post this, I have a video of the upper scanner lights on my custom Ubese helmet, I just finished. The Ubese costume has taking me over a year to do (because of family obligations), now it almost done.

I'll work on getting a pattern for how the lights would fit into my helmet (a CORA helmet). Might take a bit... I've been sice for the past two days - ugh.

Ehm, the SU had bulbs...I have also seen videos that show the LEDs set back in the slot or following the front edge of the brow. So where are they in the original screen used? any pics?

Gonna check out that final circuit now.

Hello everyone,
I guess I should have given more detail to my question. The Question, "I have also seen videos that show the LEDs set back in the slot or following the front edge of the brow. So where are they in the original screen used? any pics?"
Here are some pics to illustrate,
The first pic shows the eye set back in the slot. The second pic shows the LEDs following the front edge brow line.

Re: Eye scanner contest $50 or less
SIR-ROUND is correct... the ORIGINAL 1978 scanners used bulbs, not LEDs.
As for the placement - oops! - I forgot to measure my kit out, sorry got sick for 3 days and lost my entire weekend and a day at work. Better now. Don't let me forget from the time I write this and drive home again
Here are some "maybe helpful" pics for now.

This red arc would represent the LEDs in a holder... it sits behind the scanner inset area below, showing through the slit.

By your command...
The pics you posted have the scanner up high, my guess is that that was done to have better vision when wearing the bucket.

cool - I just got through 'most' off the posts here. Looking forward to seeing the work done on these. I'll be very intertested in anybody who comes up with great scanners for under $50
