Hi from the UK

Post by Oxnard Montalvo » Tue May 25, 2010 11:09 am

Hi...I'm Jonathan, I'm almost 40, have been into Galactica since I was 8. I think the new series is great, But you just Can't beat the original and best! I've been into Prop and Costume making for about 15 years now... I think the best you can describe me as is an 'enthusiastic amateaur'. I have pretty accurate colonial Warrior Uniform, the battle jacket of which is a bit of a mish mash but looks great from a distance! - I have been and always will be on a very tight budget, so hopefully the members here won't get too annoyed at my asking for tips and tricks on doing things on a shoestring......I've always made most of my props and costumes from Found Objects, Kind of a cross between McGyver, and a Womble(Making good use of the things that we find... things that the everyday folks leave behind) - That last bit will just confuse everyone but UK board members.....

Oxnard Montalvo, welcome! Post often and enjoy the site.

What else have you done over 15 years? We'd like to see some pics of your builds.

Welcome on board, and as for low budget or shoe string Cylon's I have seen some decent Cylon's, except the guy that made his Cylon out of paper mache. Don't step that low, and you fit in fine. :cylongold:

Having seen the pics, I suppose they're not TOO bad, In fact that three quarters shot is 'almost' passable. I was actually thinking of going down the Mache' or Papakura route...but with the addition of some kind of resin or Car body Filler coating to harden and smoth the structure.....

Sounds good.I use to use paper towels and non diluted elmer s glue to make some very elaborate sculptures .they were really solid and detailed...

Hello Jennifer, welcome! What sort of classic Battlestar Galactica costume or collection do you have going?
