Hello from Sydney Australia

Post by cybertrooper » Sun May 21, 2006 8:58 am

Greetings everyone, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
My name is Patrick and I am a 41 yo BSG fan from Sydney Australia. Like others I would like to thank Dale for this wonderful site. I have looked sporadically for cylon info, over the years, and I have never found too much on the cylons - looks like that has changed.
Anyway I have just bought an undersuit from Dale off an eBay auction - hopefully my first step in obtaining a full cylon centurion costume.
I have lots of questions, but I want to keep researching because I know that sometimes newbies ask the simple stuff instead of reading or doing their own research.
Cheers,
Patrick

Welcome Patrick
Hope that we here on the site can help with your questions, and answers on the build up of your Cylon.
Your suit is being worked on right now, with the materials that have showed up so far.

Thank you Dale,

Just a general question to you and the board. Is there a general consensus on armour manufacturers?
After many years I have finally become aware of which TK armour is the best. Yet cylon armour does not seem as common - nor critiques.
I have read some commentary/criticisms on RPF, but I am aware that there is always the potential for bias in some reviews.
Apologies if I am opening a can of worms, and I can edit this question out if necessary.

Thanks, Patrick

The best suits that I am aware of the gararge type Cylons. The big name places that do offer Cylon's for sale, aren't fully correct. I thing they are avoiding a lic. fee from Universal doing it that way. Right now Jim at http://www.WeGottaFindEarth.com is on holding making any Cylon armor suits. Unknown if a two month break, or two year. Places like http://kropserkel.com/ don't offer kits, nor are the pieces ie back pack correct. I am not sure if you can view in eBay searches, but two different sets of Cylon armor is for sale on eBay right now. Item # 4884870083 , and 6631403788 . One guy has bad feedback, but I have in the past bought from him, and had no problems. One thing about buying a kit blind, is you can't see minor problems, like the shells of the helmet if they line up. That seems to be a common issue, or lack of detail is some other areas. If you find a set for sale and would like some feedback post a photo or two, and someone will be glad to sound in on it.

Thanks for the info and feedback Dale. I have seen the two lots of armour up for auction - it will be interesting to see how expensive they go for. Two very different options to go for.

I have observed there is an individual known as Sleepless on RPF who has some screen used armour which he intends to make casts of. As he is here in Sydney it would make a lot of sense to buy off him. But I am not registered on RPF (and they are not taking new accounts) so I haven't been able to PM him.

Seen the Kropserkel site - thanks about the accuracy on the construction. If I am going to spend a lot of money I would like to be happy down the track.
