Cylon armor

Post by Red Eye » Mon Jun 26, 2006 9:08 am

Hello, I've finally ordered a complete set of Cylon armor made of fiberglass. The pieces are trimmed and have to be chromed and assembled.

But there are still a few problems:

The attachment of the chest shield for example, did it hold only through those three holding ribs?

And what's about the shoulder armor? Did it was held by velcro maybe? Or the bicep armor, wrist pieces and boot gauntlets? How did they assembled them to open them and reuse them?

I hope you can help me and it would be nice of you if you could give me some precise informations or pictures of it to clear these problems!

Thank you!

Hello Red Eye

The arm pieces should be held together with chrome tape, on one side a fabric material glued down. It should be like a clam shell, with the chrome tape holding it closed.
The three rib pieces should have Velcro on the pieces on the back side that would attach to the chest piece.

One last question: How did the shoulder armor hold on the undersuit?

The shoulder pieces are held on with Velcro. Velcro can also be used to seam the arm, and wrist pieces together. Using chrome tape once everything is on is the best way to hide the seamed area. The chest piece needs to have Velcro in the area about flush with your elbow to connect the rib pieces. As you start to put it together more of the pieces will make since on what is what, and how it all connects with each other. One thing you might want to do is put the 2 sections of the helmet together, and see how they look. Make sure the eye piece, and the mouth piece line up with each other.

Hi all,
Our screen accurate CYLON armor done in fiberglass is on order. Looks to be a 3 to 4 weeks wait. Ours will be trimmed and primed for chroming. Pricing was not bad at all $599 + $100 3 day postage from Australia. URL below to that eBay seller.

FYI we have been referred twice already to www.ArtCraftPlating.com in Burbank, CA. FYI we have not asked for a price quote yet until the armor is in our hands. Will update everyone here when avail. Have heard others state pricey but worth the money as they are the BEST.

Hi!

I've one more question: Are the insides of the Cylon shoulder armor also chromed?

The shoulder pieces are a total 4 four pieces, and they should all be chromed seperately, then attached with a rubber type of cement, then Velcro onto the under suit

Hey,

Have you heard anything on your armor yet? Just wondering. It's a little passed the delivery date.

Thanks,
Wayne

Ours is also passed the delivery date. Our last email contact with the seller was on 10/4/2006. FYI we did not pay for the armor yet as told by the seller till the armor set are fully prep and ready for shipping. Awaiting the OK. Jonesing. This CYLON project have been a huge PITA. The armor and the undersuit!! Makes us want to give up NOT!!! :-) Once it's completed we damn well will not want to make another. Very time consuming. It's a long bloody waiting game especially when patience is NOT one of my virtues.

Just got an email from the seller today. He emailed a PIC of the finished armor. Looks nice. We will be paying for this soon. Yipee! Finally! The CYLON puzzle is coming together.
