reRelease of the Galactica ,Viper , and the Cylon Raider

Post by GoldCylon » Sun Feb 04, 2007 9:32 am

Revell/Monogram have announced the reissue of three of the original series Battlestar Galactica models: Colonial Viper, Cylon Raider and Cylon Base Star. Each kit will include newly tooled plastic parts to make them more faithfull to the original filming models.

The Viper will have the most extensive reworking, and will be optimized for lighting. It will come with a clear canopy, a completely new cockpit (including clear main CRT display), seated pilot figure with hand comp and sidearm, and a completely re-tooled engine exhaust/rear deck piece. The latter will have correct detailing as well as clear engine inserts to facilitate lighting. The decals have not been finalized, but accurate markings for Galactica's fighters will definitely be covered.

The Raider will have plugs or bulkheads to fill all the gaps on the original tool, as well as corrected engine and cannon detail.

The Cylon Basestar will have new sprues containing corrected or new details (similiar to, but not based on, existing aftermarket resin sets). It will also include a comprehensive paint guide that accurately reflects the intricate paint scheme on the original filming model.

Both the Raider and Viper will have a new clear plastic stand. This will have several lengths of angled and straight rods providing the modeler with an array of poses.

Expected retail price for the fighters is in the $25 range. These kits are slated to start appearing on hobby shop shelves (but not mass-market discount stores like Wal-Mart) in mid-2007. The Big G herself may be reissued in early 2008.
