I remember costume designe Jean Pierre Dorleac (of the original series and Galactica 1980) has often went on a tear about the costume designer that mostly replaced him on Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, as well as stealing his credit on Galactica 1980.
Apparently Lehman was intended to be costume designer on Galactica 1980, but left - as to why, I don't know. Dorleac's got too much sour grapes to be viewed as a valid source as to the how and why.
However, one bit of Dorleac's story - that Lehman designed a series of new costumes for the Galactica 1980 cast, that were updates of the original series' designs, can be verified by of all things, the trashy Roger Corman movie Galaxy of Terror (and Forbidden World/Mutant, which also has one of the uniforms). Let's just compare the original BSG uniforms, one of Lehman's designs for Buck Rogers, and the Galaxy of Terror/Forbidden World uniforms.
Is there anyone on here who owns the unused Galactica 1980 costumes and can confirm this (and thus, Dorleac's story as well?) It's highly unlikely that these uniforms were actually made for Galaxy of Terror, total schlocky film.
