Cylon-Knight's Dad

Post by Cylon-Knight » Mon Apr 20, 2009 10:27 pm

Hi everyone... I've been "off-line" for about a week. LONG story short, had to get 911 to take my dad to the hospital when he was all weak and unresponsive early one morning. Then SURPRISE! he needed a very intense EMERGENCY surgery - or death.

So, he has been on the mend since the operation - that went very very well. He came off his ventilator

Well my dad was on the mend. But suffered a stroke 2 days ago.

I'm in his hospital room now, on a laptop.

All we can do is wait and worry.

Sorry to hear about your dad, but sounds like things are looking up. Take your time with your dad, and tell him the crew at BYC hopes he is doing well.

All I can do is to agree.

I'm sure I'll speak in everybody's name here if I tell you that all of us send your father best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery!

Thank you all! Everyones support means SO MUCH!

He got a feeding tube today - still unable to swallow due to the stroke yet. His new feeding tube (a P.E.G. Tube) will let him get some much needed nutrients.

Just wanted to wish you and your dad all the best at this difficult time.

You are so right cybertrooper, and thank you for your well wishes. Everyone helps so much.

He was VERY tired most of the day yesterday and snoozed. He is looking so frail now. I hope the feeding tube boosts his body quickly with some energy.

I know it must be heart breaking to see the once strong man, your father was, reduced to a shadow of his former self - but I hope his health returns soon and you get your dad back to his normal self.

Yesterday wasn't good either. My dad's stroke got worse around 6 PM. It enlarged and some bleeding in the brain started too. Today he was moved back to an ICU room. He has a very good nurse now and they will take good care of him.

He's too weak to talk anymore, he keeps his eyes shut and still no motion on his left side. But he will squeeze your hand of you tell him too, etc. He knows we are there, but can barley communicate back to us. Yesterday was my brother's birthday and my dad was in the midst of the stroke getting worse. He tried a few times to say "happy birthday" but just could not get the words out.

More stress and more worry. If you have a moment, think a positive thought for my dad please.

CK, for what it is worth my thoughts and prayers are for your Dad and your family at this distressing time.

I hope that what ever happens your family hold close. Sorry but I have no more words that can mean anything during such a difficult time.

cybertrooper, thank you so much for your kind words they mean so much.

Yesterday at 4:30 PM, my father passed away. My life has such a painful emptiness now. Today we made his arrangements. There are so many helpful friends and family at this time... it is completely true that the love you give comes back to you. My father was a friend to so many and will be greatly missed.

Cylon-Knight,

I am very, very sorry for your tragic loss.

I lost my dad three and a half years ago, and I still miss him greatly. I know that the loss of my dad hit me more than any other death I had encountered. Emptiness is an apt description of what I felt, and what you will likely feel for a while to come.

Your dad obviously touched a lot of people and was a force for good because his passing has touched so many. This is an affirmation of his goodness.

Cylon Knight I am sorry about hearing the passing of your dad. You were lucky to have him for so many years in your life. My dad passed when I was 13 from cancer.

cybertrooper, GoldCylon... thank you so much for your support. I wish your fathers were still with us as well. It hurts, but it reminds us to care for the family we do have that much more.

And I'm glad to have my extended family at By Your Command.net too - we tin cans stick together.
