Welcome to the Battlestar Galactica Transcripts, prepared in honor of the 40th anniversary of the 1978 Universal sci-fi series. These transcripts are intended as a research aid for those studying the classic series.
For episodes expanded into telemovies in 1980, I have presented the dialogue in telemovie order. For the pilot episode, I have included the extra dialogue from the theatrical version where not inconsistent with the broadcast version. Similarly, for “The Living Legend,” I have incorporated the extra material from the theatrical release Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack where not inconsistent with the broadcast versions.
Regarding the spelling of certain Colonial idioms, I have consistently used “frak” rather than “frack.” While both versions are attested in 1978 sources, I prefer “frak” because it is literally a four-letter word and is unlikely to be confused with a reference to hydraulic fracturing. “Ambrosa” is spelled the same way regardless of anomalous pronunciations because the Writer’s Guide (found at Kobol.com) expressly noted “Do not pronounce ‘ambrosia.’” With word variants such as centar/centare, hectar/hectare, fumarello/fumarillo, and the many variations on “felgercarb,” the spelling in the transcripts follows pronunciation.
The primary source for these transcripts has been a close listening to the episodes, supplemented by the DVD captions for the hearing-impaired, the partial transcripts found on the SpringfieldSpringfield website, and available drafts of the shooting scripts.
